Will Destiny’s Raids get matchmaking?

Right now, the only way to tackle Destiny’s Raids is to have a group of high-levelled friends who want to get shot in the face repeatedly in the perpetual quest for better gear. That’s right; there’s no matchmaking for Raids – which means it’s impossible to jump in to a raid with a group of strangers for a few arduous hours of shooting. That could change.

Maybe.

According to Bungie’s David Dague, there may be some changes coming that include matchmaking for Raids.

“The Raid was designed for solid teams of killers who have made a commitment to solve a dense and explosive riddle. Most of the raiding parties who have emerged victorious from the Vault of Glass have sworn that one weak link would have doomed their chain.

“There have been other stories, of course. We’ve heard tell of Guardians who met each other just outside the door that leads into that vault. Strange tales have reached our ears – tales of total strangers who have banded together to see the Raid all the way through to a triumphant finale.

“Those stories surprise us, but the players of our games always have. The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too.”

Destiny is still quite a lot of fun, and I know very many of you are still playing the thing, trying to farm for ascendant shards, but the game certainly has its issues. They’re encapsulated perfectly in this “Honest” trailer for the game, from the chaps at Smosh. It is, as its title suggest, honest – and 100% accurate.

Still say it would have done better if it wasn’t so over hyped

This is so true, people made it out to be the messiah of next gen gaming. Sadly you need to buy into the expansions to get everything out of this.

We finished the raid last night at 1:30. It’s not that hard it’s just someone gets blindsided by a harpy or the teleporter doesn’t work properly

Honest Trailer’s can be so honest. If only they made trailers before the game releases.

I’m still loving this game. The Crucible alone is worth buying the whole game. A mate of mine has been playing Crucible since level 3, and is now level 25. He has not played anything else as he says Crucible feeds his FPS addiction, and I fully agree. I feel no desire to go back to Halo or COD or Battlefield or any other game now.

Sounds more sensible – trying to find 5 people online at same time willing to do same thing…aint so easy!

Raids allow for a 6 – man (or woman) Fireteam.

A 3 – Guardian Fireteam limit applies to Strikes, Story and Patrol missions.

I like the idea that at least an option of matchmaking for Raids might be made available. And if it doesn’t work out for some players, then go and coordinate with your mates.

Hell, even the weekly Strike missions could do with a bit of matchmaking, as well.

It’s a good thing Geoffrey used Raid canisters as a header pic, or else I’d certainly think that the idea of randoms matchmaking for a raid was Doomed for sure, even before it got off the ground.

No? Okay, then. I’ll see myself out.
