Will Hollywood Make Another Mario Movie?

Any of you remember that godawful Mario Bros movie they made in the 90’s, starring accomplished actors Dennis hopper and Bob Hoskins? not only was that a highlight of their careers, it was a highlight of my childhood!

It was one of the first films that made me question just what the sodding heck goes through the minds of film producers when transcribing an established franchise to a different medium – and I came to the conclusion that it was probably LCD LSD. Well Hollywood hasn’t completely let go of the idea of ruining Mario through cinema for a whole new generation.

Thankfully, according to Nintendo America’s roast beef of a president Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo won’t let it happen again unless it’s of exceptional quality.

All the time,” he told the LA Times when asked if Hollywood types approached Nintendo about brining their franchises to the silver screen once more. “The message is, ‘Thank you for the interest.’ There have been certain [people] that we have talked in more detail with.”

“But I think in the end, because we are a content company and are passionate about our franchises, it will be few and far between that actual deals are done to bring our franchises to life in a different way. These are our children.”

Still, I think the Legend of Zelda could be made in to a pretty damned epic fantasy film.

If you wanna make a movie like that, just do it CG.
Games like that OBVIOUSLY doesn’t translate well to live
action. It will just end up looking ridiculous. Again!
