Will Sony go cloud based at E3?

PS3 and Onlive?

With Microsoft and Sony already announcing that they won’t be showing of their next generation consoles at E3 this year it’s going to be interesting to see what they have to announce that may get everyone excited.

VG247 has heard an interesting rumour that Sony may well in fact announce a new cloud gaming partnership with either Onlive or Gaikai.

If true it could revolutionise the way console gaming works in the future with trips to the retail store and full priced game seemingly becoming a thing of the past.

Unfortunately for us in South Africa this mammoth announcement will not make any difference to our current gaming lives as these cloud gaming services require a server to be placed relatively close to where you are gaming and there just aren’t enough gamers in South Africa at the moment to justify installing a server or two.

So while retailers get to breathe a sigh of relief this is just yet another step away from being on an equal par with our American and European friends.
