Will Uncharted 4 hit 60fps?

uncharted

With this new generation of consoles, there’s been a hope that many, if not all of their games would run at that wonderfully smooth 60 frames per second frame rate. Naughty Dog managed to get their PS3 Remaster, The Last of Us, to run like digital butter – and with company community strategist Arne Meyer saying they would target 1080p/60fps “with anything we’re doing on this generation,” hopes are high that Uncharted 4 would hit those highs. It may not be happening, especially if forcing 60fps would in any way negatively affect the experience.

“We’re actually above 30, but we locked it [for the demo], Straley explained in the latest edition of Edge Magazine (via Videogamer).  “We’re going to do whatever it takes to make the game we want to make. If it means we could go for 60 but lose something that would really impact the player’s experience, then it’s our choice as developers to say, ‘Well, we’re going to go for the experience over the 60 frames.'”

The demo you saw from Last year’s PlayStation experience was capable of running above 30 frames per second, but was capped at 30. Would the game benefit from 60fps? Probably, but I’d take more fleshed out experiences and shinier visuals over frame rate in a game like Uncharted any day. All of the previous ones have been capped at 30, and they’ve been just fine. What say you? Would you prefer a prettier Uncharted 4, or a smoother one?

Here’s the footage from PlayStation Experience again.

Yeah let’s all get together at 7 and we should be a search party of about 7 people. Just in case we should have 7 CoD dogs too to sniff him out.

Now that you mention it he should go hit the slots and get those three 7’s. That should give him enough cash to buy 7 PS4 and 7 Sony Z3 phones too.

Remember sony going crazy over 1080p…. yeah it’s going to be 1080p at all costs, even the cost of frames.

50-60 is fine. Film is a constant 24fps and it sucks. Something the IMAX is slowly sorting out.

I think the only people who cares are the ones that wont be able to play this. If it looks half as good as Infamous or TLOU I’d be happy

hear hear, the PS3 polygon count was fine. Just give us improved gameplay with 60fps.

No point having lovely 1080p graphics if it all looks like somebody smeared butter on the screen when moving.

60fps for a better gaming experience. NOT better graphics.

    GAMING comes first, graphics second.

The FILM feel statement is an excuse for low budget costs. After watching the Naughty Dog documentary I had no Idea just how difficult and expensive it is going for 60fps. A major pain in the ass.

Doubt it, Naughty dog are a different breed of pedigree.
What I got from that statement is that the graphics are going to take a dive to live up to the fps bar that they set in TLOU remastered.

Frames over looks any day. Sony dug this whole for themselves using 1080p as the ultimate selling tool over Xbox. Hope they can still reach the 60fps mark though!

I have always wondered about this. In our region, We get a 25 frame per second broadcast feed. That is pal. Film is 30 frames per second and ntsc is 24. When using a console for gaming, I would think that the frame rate becomes redundant considering this standard. Do modern TV’s allow a higher frame rate when using their respective HDMI channel that one would normally use for gaming purposes ?

There is actually a very interesting topic about FPS. It is not about graphics or the looks but more the experience of the flow of the game.

Coming from a Counter Strike competitive background, FPS is a big deal when it comes to games where the slightest FPS drop could be the death of you.

Given the standard, I would think you would only notice if the signal dips below 25 frames per sec.
