GOTY

Early this morning (locally, that is!) Geoffy Keighly’s Game Awards (formerly the Spike Video Game Awards) Kicked off, letting us know what the best games released in the last year were. Hopefully, we’ve all played enough of them to allow us to nod in quiet agreement, or shake our fists in the air and yell in disagreement as the controversial panel of judges were obviously paid off. Obviously.

Whichever way you feel about the awards, the ceremony or the gender make-up of the panel – none of that changes which games won. Here then, are the games that did. The overall Game of the Year should really come as no surprise to anybody.

There are a couple of things I disagree with, naturally – most notably Rise of the Tomb Raider getting a great big lemon, and Rocket League winning the best indie game. There’s very little else to grumble about though, and I’m glad that Splatoon’s walked away with best shooter – because it’s the only one in years that’s really attempted – and succeeded – at doing something fresh.

I also couldn’t give a damn about eSports stuff, but that may just be me (Sorry Kyle!). That aside; what do you think of the winners? Deserving of their new accolades?

MGS V got awards??? Jeez must’ve been a crappy year if they considered that incomplete mess a game…

But on a serious note. Good, Witcher 3 deserved it! Best story driven RPG I’ve ever played. And heck what good value for money!!!

Game of the year awards are subject to opinion, for me it has to be Bloodborne, hands down. The Witcher 3 is a fantastic game but the atmosphere and immersive gameplay of Bloodborne is unparalleled.

I think the fact that only 20% of people who bought it actually finished it is the reason it never got GOTY.

            December 4, 2015 at 08:48

            Tongue in cheek

Well, to start the fine art of make-upping, you will need several props.
            1. Wine.
            2. Chocolate morsels
            3. Contrite expression
            4. Apology. Fake it if you have to.
            5. Sincerity. DO NOT FAKE THIS. Use a pin in your hand if you have to

Then you need a willing audience, such as someone who believes you have wronged them (yes, yes, perspective and all that. Walk in, quietly put the gifts down (the wine and chocolate, not yourself dammit). and say hi. Ask how the injured party is doing. Then ask how the person you came to see is doing. Then, the Sincerity, the apology, followed by the Contrite expression.

Balance will be restored and the art of the make-upping is in motion. Join us next week for “”

Look, I’m really not complaining, but what exactly would that entail? I know Greg Miller is quite good at ripping games apart, but he also invests a lot of time into them, I’m just not exactly sure why anyone would be awarded a “Trending Gamer award” rather give them a critics award, at least with that they provide an opinion on what they’re doing….anyway…

i think my point is , 30 missions then 20 redos does not equal a full game ,s seriously as consumers ( and reviewers ) we have to take a stance on this type of gaming , i for one did not and will not complete missions 47 to 50 , why ? cause i dont think its “gaming” like it should be

still bleak at the reviews ….half baked game

I was more than happy with the 1st chapter.

Actually he should never have bothered with chapters. But I assume that Konami wanted to sell the game off as episodic content but Kojima told them to fcyk off.

Besides, was the narrative not closed after Quiets ending with theme tune? or are you one of these serious MGS fans who wanted to see how the entire loop in the franchise closed off?

havent botherd with last 3 missions , just over repeating what i have already done…really sucks how mgsv turned out story/characters/snake wise

The gameplay is fun. I didn’t mind infiltrating a base over and over. Because it’s tense. Trying to be sneaky and not alerting anyone. Then again I played most MGS games before this. And this one is the first with such big maps instead of going from point A to B in little segments
