Did you ever wish that you could blow up the whole world on a quest for gold and gems? Want to also build houses, schools and bars in a bid to make even more money? Then do I have a game for you!

Boom Town is all about joining the gold rush and getting rich by carefully, or dangerously, using high explosives. The game has a fairly simple loop: you buy explosives, blow up the plots, drive around and collect the gold, and use the proceeds to build your town and buy more explosives.

However, the game also gets more complicated. Just like in real life, the price of gold can fluctuate. As a result, you might choose to upgrade your vault to store a whole bunch more gold so that you can hoard it until the price is right and make the most of your profits. Other upgrades include getting a larger gas tank for your truck so you can pick up more gold before running out of fuel, or expanding your drop zone so that you don’t have to drive as far to drop off your spoils.

Boom Town 2

But it’s not just about getting all the gold. you need to build a booming town, which mean adding in buildings to attract people to your settlement. From houses and schools to bars and hospitals, it’s all about making your area more appealing and eventually making your town boom. Part city tycoon, part business and upgrade game with a bunch of mining and thrown in for good measure, Boom Town is an addictive mix of a range of genres.

Started Dragon Age Inquisition last night. It crashed twice, both on the 1 minute long black loading screen and the cut scenes stutter to 5fps, unwatchable. The PS4s frame rate runs at 25fps during major battles thanks to the 1080p while the Bones frame rate is locked at 30 thanks to the 900p.

The fuzzy Fable 2 graphics is nothing near Skyrim on the 360. Zooming into the bow on the characters back and you can see the low pixels on the texture just like the weapons in Skyrim on the 360.

I am sure I am going to fall in love with the addictive level grinding in this 100hour world, but why do you reviewers never mention these things?

There is no patch for the stuttering cut scenes and never will be. But at least mention how the 5fps throws you out of the immersion.

lol Fable 2 was also released with crashes and a game breaking bug. Thanks Peter the Patch for starting this trend.

shit, that sounds awful. i’ve had a few frame rate issues on PS4, but not THAT many. i’m still very early on in the game, though…

Likewise – I’ve had the occasional dip, but nothing like oVg mentions… Maybe the D1 patch sorted most of those out (was only 200mb too, so not bad as far as D1 patches go).

Same prices as BT, CNA and Incredible Corruption.
These fcuking games are too expensive. LITTLE WONDER we sift 100 reviews before deciding to part with 4 weeks worth of petrol money.

BT is R800 plus trade in your old games, FC4 cost almost half after the 10% preorder discount and after I traded Evil Within. I keep a cycle going. Play a game, finish, trade for a new game, rince and repeat.

I think it will be wise to take a year out of buying new games besides The Witcher 3. Then come back a year later once the GOTY edition with all patches and updates included go to retail for cheaper.

The 8th generation of console gaming has proving nothing but how premature it is.
            Best to wait.

You pay for a new game + Rince everytime?! So that’s where he keeps disappearing to… 😉 🙂

Yeah, prices are getting nuts at the moment… And they only promise to get worse, with our Rand predicted to take a beating…

With having to pay off a house, and all the expenses that go with that, now, I most definitely am more picky when it comes to what games I buy. The ones that don’t make my list simply wait for when they are on special… The lower on the list the game is, the bigger the special needs to be for me to get it. 🙂

Replay value for me. If I was your typical American gamer I would buy little 5hour videogames like COD and move on. Not in South Africa. Investing in a new game is like choosing a new car payment option.

musica, look & listen, flea markets, incredible ripoffs, dion wired, makro etc. if there was a warehouse or a megastore we could go to, but alas…. no such luck. so if you’re looking for something specific, be prepared to walk around from shop to shop in malls… and be prepared to be disappointed. not only because you didn’t get the game you were looking for, but also because you bought a game that is complete kak, but you play it just to try and ease your buyer’s remorse.
