Wrap up of 2007 – Gamer.Blorge

Gamer.Blorge.com has written a nice wrap of the previous years fortunes for the big three.

Generally like everyone else they have agreed that the Wii has had the best year and are smiling all the way to the bank. However there is still a worry about the quality and quantity of third party Wii games…

The PS3 has had an acceptable year, though this is measured against its atrocious start to its life. The price drop was the best move and 2008 is looking good on the games front.

However they believe only Halo 3 saved the 360 from having a disastrous year which is something I am not sure I can agree with. The 360 had the better percentage of 3rd party games and while I am not underestimating the impact of Halo 3, I don’t think it saved the 360 this year.

Halo 3 saved the 360 from having a disastrous year :)? I’m by no means a gaming journalist – nor did I bother to read that article, admittedly – but the 360 had A TREMENDOUS YEAR with a few blemishes – namely RROD and Xbox Live being on its sick bed as of late 🙂 . Between Bioshock, Crackdown, Mass Effect, the aforementioned Halo 3, COD4 taking over the globe (well, mine, at least), I’m hard-pressed to believe I have witnessed one single console have so many uber-stellar games in such a short period…ever. Quite frankly, appealing to my flailing memory, no year in video gaming, in my opinion, has been better than 2007 – apart from 1998, which was the year Zelda: Ocarina of Time and MGS were released (and you know how I feel about those 😀 ).

Oh, in closing, 2008 is PS3’s year. Remember I said that. In fact, quote me this time next year 😀 .

I’m going to say definitely, I’ll quote you next year 😉

I think 2008 is going to be the year of polarization: Nintendo will hold Japan, Sony will probably take Europe and Microsoft will hold the US.

I think Sony is going to have to wait until ’09 before it can start thinking about crowing.
