Activision and Marvel are teaming up to bring us a new X-Men game. Dubbed X-Men Destiny, the game was only announced yesterday (07 October) so very little is known so far, and both companies are keeping it that way until the New York Comic-Con. From the very little that’s been divulged so far, the potential is there.

The game will feature players as “new mutant recruits” (not the New Mutants though) and will include “a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice”. Ooh, sounds like something Bioware would say!

No platforms have been announced as yet, but Activision has said that more information will follow shortly. The studio tasked with developing X-Men Destiny is Silicone Knights, the team behind Too Human. Let’s see what they can do with a much-loved franchise.

Good news is that Mike Carey is penning the storyline for the game; he’s the writer for the X-Men: Legacy series. We can expect more information on the game tomorrow (09th October) when Marvel hosts a panel discussion at Comic-Con. We’ll be sure to post more details as and when they arise. In the meantime you can check out the very sparse official website, which will undoubtedly be updated as the weekend continues.
