A local Xbox 360 blog is reporting this morning that the unconfirmed yet readily spotted Xbox 360 Arcades are actually HDMI enabled and come with 6 games not 5.
The 6 games confirmed are Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man CD and Uno…
I know the Arcade is looked down upon by a few people but I do really think it is a great deal for the more casual gamers out there, the fact that it is the new architecture only adds to the value.

I too think this is somewhat a good idea from MS, but the casual gamer could simply jus buy a WII if it’s arcade he/she is after.
My sister bought a 360 Premium just for arcade games.

I presume the X360’s do come with a HDMI cable so you dont have to dish out another R250 for it?

Well we all know that presumptions are the mother of all …..
Can anyone confirm yet that HDMI enabled Xbox 360’s come with HDMI cables?

“I too think this is somewhat a good idea from MS, but the casual gamer could simply jus buy a WII if it’s arcade he/she is after.”
I think it’s more a case of giving better value for the same price rather than dropping the price. Remember, the original Core didn’t come with a Mem Card, and it was a wired controller.
I somehow doubt that they would bundle HDMI cables on the budget model. I hope that they do give the Component+Composite cable that you get with the Pro, though.

Only the elite ships with an HDMI cable.
Arcade – composite
Pro – Component
Elite – component + HDMI

You can see it on the boxes, the Elite says “HDMI Cable” the other 2 say “Optional”.
I think the Arcade SKU is a good idea, but i am 100% against it’s lack of HDD. This is causing concerns for some of the developers.

I thought we had all decided that there is no difference between HDMI and composite? So why does it matter?
On the arcade thing? I think its both clever and dumb at the same time. Microsoft are trying to target the WII market, which as we can now all see is massive.
However if a gamer wants to play these kind of games why not just buy a golden china system? The games are the same and for a tiny fraction of the price!

@Banana, I completely agree about the lack of HDD issue, why they didn’t include on in the Core will always baffle me..
@Abev, comparing casual games to a Golden China system is a bit ridiculous. Casual games don’t have to be small or ugly.

@abev – its actually COMPONENT and not composite. There’s a huge difference between the two you mentioned. 😉

HDMI cables are fairly cheap, so the fact that the pro or arcade (formerly core) are not supplied with them is not really a huge issue.

^^^ “Arcade – composite”

Uh no, I’ll blame you posting from the pub on Friday Afternoon 😉 My post was about the cables.
The HDMI is there simply to feature match the PS3. The 360 component and VGA cables can both do 1080p and from all accounts the difference is pretty much imperceivable.
And on the “Golden China” comment I’ll just giggle at the naivety around XBLA. It’s sure as heck more than just the Wii’s virtual console.
