Microsoft has announced that the 360 has just surpassed the original Xbox in total sales. What this basically means is that the 360 has now sold over 25 million units which also means the analysts are a couple of million off and we can expect to see some huge sales figures coming out of NPD for November.
With the PS3 just passing 17 million in sales we can see that it is still 8 million behind which implies that it hasn’t caught up any ground what so ever since it’s belated launch, a fact that Sony will not be including in their next press release.
You can expect to see a lot of smiles floating around Redmond in December and unless something goes very wrong for Microsoft I just cannot see Sony overtaking them before January 2010 at the earliest. If you had offered that to Microsoft before the release of the 360 they would have grabbed it with both hands however now you know they want and expect more.
Sony have to be wondering how they went from being the undisputed leader to fighting for second spot and losing.

They fighting xbox for 2nd place… he said it right… if they were fighting for 3rd spot then that would mean they were competing with someone else for 3rd or 4th…
But we all know the PS3 is sitting rather comfortably at 2nd.. they gonna have to fight very hard to get to second.

Wel if you think about it the PS3 launched a year after the X360 and have sold about 17 000 000 units then thats just awesome. It just shows even an expensive console can sell well… very well. If I was MS i would be panicing my short of just selling being in a 6 million unit lead only time will tell how long MS will be able to keep it up

How many units did the 360 sell while the PS3 wasnt on the market???? that will be a true reflection what which console is more popular because it is a like for like comparison, does any one have the answer?
I still think the Ps3 is sitting pretty, surely they will take a price cut some time and with the 360 so cheap they cant really afford any more price cuts whereas the Ps3 can.
Also whats in store for the 360 next year is it anything great? I havent heard any exciting nes where as the Ps3 is looking at a few goodies i.e. GoW3, uncharted 2, Killzone 2, heavyrain to mention a few!

The xbox sold about 6 million before the ps3 came on the market, and for the last 2 years they have sold about 17 mil
each. with some months the ps3 in front and others the xbox in front. but in ameraica the xbox have been outselling the
ps3 by about 2 million, where in Europe they have sold almost on par with the ps3 500 000 ahead and in japan the ps3 outsold the xbox by 1.5 million + – . they ps3 gained a lot in the first half of 2008, but lost that lead in the last 2 months and the rest of the christmas season, as the recession make people by they cheaper xbox in greater numbers.

We all know that sony launched late and yes that was there own damn fault. We also know that the ps3 didnt sell very well at first. But when comparing this year, the PS3 has sold more consoles and is therefore indeed catching up.

Sony was only catching up the first half of the year,
in the last few months xbox have sold more again – because of price, Seems like this year will be a tie e.g the xbox and ps3 will both sell within 200 000 units of each other.
With the xbox 360 selling slightly more than the ps3.
so we are awaiting the sales figures for xbox 360 and ps3 at the end of the year.
But we all know that the wii is the winner overall.
