Both of the next generation consoles will allow you to capture your gameplay, upload it to the internet, and share that as a video with your friends. It very nearly makes those very expensive HD capture devices that people currently use to make console gameplay videos obsolete. Nearly, but not quite – especially with regards to the Xbox One.
It seems that Microsoft’s machine just doesn’t record your gaming for quite as long as the PlayStation. While Sony’s console records the last 15 minutes of your playtime, the Xbox One commits a measly 5 minutes at a time to its internal storage.
Microsoft confirmed this themselves in a panel at Comic Con this weekend, with Microsoft Studios creative director Ken Lobb saying that “The idea is you’re always recording. The last five minutes of any game you’re playing are always being stored on your hard drive.”
“Say you’re making a compilation video but can’t stop your session to save the last five minutes before capturing the next” Lobb added, “Say you’re playing online and you just did the best thing ever – you can’t pause as you’re playing online. You can say ‘Xbox, record that’ and it’ll grab the last 30 seconds of gameplay for you to play around with later.”
The PlayStation 4 continually records the last 15 minutes of your session, allowing you to select a screenshot or video from that, which you can share using the console’s “share button.”
That said, the Xbox One’s voice-control features and – from what we’ve seen – more robust video editor might end up giving it the edge when it comes to on-console video editing and sharing. Besides, five minutes is more than enough for me. Wait, what?

Which leaves it open to interpretation. It seems like a very deliberate choice of wording.

It’s a strange move, Capcom are publishers themselves after all. They must be in a bad way to lock the game away to a single platform.
Regardless, with MS publishing it, you may yet see it on PC.
I’m not 100% on how publishing agreements work, but the likelihood of it appearing on another platform is way low with that info.

If you’re sharing let’s plays, cutscenes are often longer than 10 minutes – especially in the beginning of the game.
Microsoft’s solution is fine for battlefield/titanfall/Cod shot montages, which is what the majority will want it for, on the Xbox One.
For game reviews, and let’s plays, it’s a bit more limiting.

Awesome. Game play videos are just too long, in my ever so humble opinion.
Short, to the point. A longer video is not necessarily better, just longer. Perhaps this will encourage more focused videos and not twenty minutes of some guy running around in a game. Or maybe my YouTube search skills suck.
