Xbox outs Predator DLC for Mortal Kombat X

Rumours abounded earlier this year that classic action bad-guy Predator would make its way to NetherRealm’s upcoming fighter, Mortal Kombat X. A natural fit, he’d function – I imagine – a bit like a fleshier version of robotic ninja Cyrax. NetherRealm’s been quiet on whether or not Predator would make the cut as the game’s second guest DLC character – but the cat’s been let out of the bag…by Microsoft.

The Xbox Store listing for the game’s Premium edition has ended the speculation. Here’s what it says:

Bundle Description:The Kombat Pack is currently available in the Mortal Kombat X Premium Edition on the Xbox Store. Kombat Pack grants early access to 4 new playable characters and skin packs. Stalk and slash your opponents as Horror Icon Jason Voorhees, or play as Predator, the Ultimate Hunter. Two Klassic Mortal Kombat characters complete the offer. Each playable character comes with a themed skin pack including three new skins for select characters. Also includes The Samurai Pack available on April 14th 2015.

That pretty much confirms it – though it does put paid to rumours that Spawn would be joining the roster – at least for now. The other extra characters added via the DLC will be classic characters, drawn from the series’ long history.

In related news, a few other characters might be making their way to the fighting game, revealed through the modifiers in Kustom Kombat and Test your Might modes from NetherRealm’s livestream yesterday. The following assists show up in the options. None of these characters have been confirmed in the game, and could show up as assist characters only – but at least they’ll be given an in-game nod or two.

  • Stryker Assist
  • Smoke Assist
  • Rain Assist
  • Kabal Assist
  • Kabal Blades
  • Cyrax Bombs

Mortal Kombat X is out worldwide on April 14th. I’m needlessly excited, though also a little peeved at the way that the game’s character DLC is being handled.

I wanted Spawn so badly 🙁 He would kick serious ass in the MK universe!…And him and Scorpion could have been besties, them both being from hell and all.

We all suspected it I think. Let’s hope Predator doesn’t GO NUCLEAR after emerging from the closet.

I see Goro will be available as a playable character if you pre-order. Do you guys think it is worth it, or will he maybe later be made available as a DLC too?

To go Premium or not to go Premium, that is the question….

As far as I know you will only be able to get him on the pre-order but I am sure he will be available on the definitive, legendary or whatever edition after a year or so.

Netherrealm disapoints with their character selection. Last gen, we had Freddy. This gen, we get Jason. Can they not think about the orgasms that will be had by horror fans if they put the two together in one game? At least we can then be entertained by Freddy Vs Jason.

Everytime I hear DLC + Mortal Kombat X the less interested I get in the game.

AngryJoe brought up to the Witcher 3 and Mortal Kombat X developers an idea about Geralt from the Witcher 3 being a character in the Mortal Kombat X game. Geralt does fire, force push, mind control, slows time/traps and he has a 2 swords. Geralt is like 5 Mortal Kombat characters in one. Geralt would be proper DLC.

    Don’t Support DRM.

Yeah. I’m keen for the game. I’ve played it, it’s rad. The DLC just pisses me off.

There should be some tricky process to unlock these characters instead of milking people on DLC. MK has forgotten it’s roots!
