So y’all want a resolution? Most upcoming games these days have a slight difference between console versions. Namely the fact that the PlayStation 4 can crank out full 1080p visuals over the Xbox One, which usually hovers around the 900p range. A not very noticeable difference at all, but one that massively matters to tech-heads. Alien: Isolation however, is bucking that trend with a full HD release across both new-gen platforms.
There’ll be “no noticeable” difference between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Alien: Isolation, according to Creative Assembly’s Gary Napper. “I think with frame rate it’s pretty comparable. There’s no noticeable drop or change in graphics between them,” Napper said to Total Xbox.
As per usual though, expect the PC platform to get the most out of the game visually, as Napper said that “Obviously there are a lot more options to tweak and scale up on the PC.”
Still, the game is available on old-gen systems such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although Napper explained that there was no one lead platform during the development of the game, which allowed the team to reach such a wide level of console parity:
We build it on one central engine and then kick it out to different versions, So when I think about working on the game it’s almost platform agnostic because I only think about the differences between platforms and the different mechanics we can use like the light on the PS4 pad and the stuff with Kinect 2.0.
Alien Isolation: Jy Sal Kak Edition is out in October. You can celebrate the horror of having a phallic-headed monster with acidgasm blood that happens to have an interest in attaching face-rape hugging organisms to your face with a new trailer:

Pooped in my pants again…
Not even the New Age Ridley Scott understands the concept of Horror.
The Original Alien was a Horror film, all the others were Science Fiction films.
This game is the game we have always wanted an Alien game to be.
Poopy time.

Saw it in the movies on the original run in ’79 – scared the crap outta me (I have loved the Alien franchise way more than Star Wars ever since)

I don’t. I would love to play this game and it is nice to know my ole 360 can and will be supported. Yay me!
Plus I think dev’s need the financial boost of sales on both platforms right about now. Making games is not cheap…
Rince&Shitity
June 27, 2014 at 10:34
Agreed. But maybe they aren’t cheap because they are making one game for 4 different systems. That takes coding and extra people.

If you are working off one engine? Maybe you are right. Though I am sure some guy better with numbers than I worked out the figures and came to a conclusion that all four consoles is not a bad idea.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 user base is not something to abandon just yet…

Yeah, I agree. I am still on Xbox 360 at the moment as I have so many games I need to get through!
