Your PC needs to be this fast in order to run F1 2015

Formula One! I never watch TV, sports or believe that the Queen of England is actually real, but even I know about this massive motoring event. It’s the one where the cars go reeeeeeeaaaaaally fast around a track, right? Right!

A new F1 game launches later this month on console and PC. And yes, the PC version will have the best visuals. Hell, it had better, or there’ll be trouble. Here’s what you need to get the game running with minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3.0GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.2GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel 4th Gen Iris Graphics or AMD HD5770 or NVIDIA GTS450
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible soundcard

And here’s what Codemasters is recommending for first places finishes in the recommended specs department:

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4770 or AMD FX 9370
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel 5th Gen Iris Pro or AMD R9 290 or Nvidia GTX970
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Direct X compatible soundcard

According to Alessandro, those are some hefty requirements. According to me, I like crayons. As Al enlightened me, those are near the requirements for the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight, minus the unrelenting rage that followed from realising that you may have bought a broken game a few weeks ago.

But seriously, according to Geoff and Al, there is some confusion here, as the specs detail either onboard graphics or a dedicated graphic card to get the best results. Weird. F1 2015 is out on July 10 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. VROOM!

Let us get serious for a second. I can’t see how the game would be broken as there has only been one formula in the last 50 years of gaming for this.

Press W … car goes fast.

Not exactly the most innovative genre. 😛

I love my racing games. I may not use an expensive wheel, but my controller analogue sticks work very nicely for some sensitivity. Driving with directional buttons or ‘wasd’ is against my religion.

Man I loved that game. Played it with directional buttons the first time too, I’ll admit.
On my many many replays afterwards I used a controller though.

I find wasd to be a significant improvement on sticks, personally. I guess it’s all down to preference.

It is an extremely detailed reacing sim, that has some very clever settings so that all comers can play the game effectively, regardless of actual skill levels.

Yeah but still. Unless they added guns or batman type combat the game is still just press w go fast. Even if you improve the visuals etc you pretty much should have basic gameplay coding down to a T. If your racing game (minus the ones with guns etc) is buggy then you might want to rethink the whole thing. 😛

          • SargonTheBatpandaOfTI5

            July 8, 2015 at 14:28

If they added the latest batmobile, I doubt you’d even beat the worst of the racing teams in F1. That thing handles like a Tank that needs a Walking Stick of Truth. But hey. It can shoot. So who cares if it can go in a straight line or not? 😛

          July 8, 2015 at 14:27

DRS and whatnot were all pretty difficult to comes to terms with when I played a title for the first time in a few years, last year. Which is pretty much true for the sport itself. The game can only be as innovative as the shit it’s based on.

The game needs to work for at least the length of the entire race. Because I’m not getting to lap 49/53 for the game to just… CRASH..

        I say HELL NO!

    Wait a second…. Recommended specs:

“Graphics: Intel 5th Gen Iris Pro or AMD R9 290 or Nvidia GTX970”

If part of the recommended graphics is built in gfx processer on a CPU then you most certainly won’t need a beast like the 970. I can guarentee it
