Zelda delay

Over the weekend, tons of people filled my twitter timeline with news that The Legend of Zelda was delayed into 2016. There was even speculation that it won’t be launching on Wii U at all, coming to Nintendo’s N(e)X(t) console instead. But where does this news come from? Well, directly from Nintendo, but there may be more to it.

Here is the announcement that started it all:

That tweet leads to this link with a message from Legend of Zelda producer, Eiji Aonuma.

For those who don’t want to watch the video and read all the subtitles, he explains that the new open world nature of this biggest and best Zelda game has led to all new ideas and opportunities. As a result, rather than making working towards a specific schedule the main objective, the focus will be bringing ideas to life to make this Zelda the best possible game. Aonuma goes on to apologize to all who were expecting the game by this year’s end as making a 2015 release is no longer the number one priority. He hopes (as we all do) that the extended time for development will end up rewarding our patience for the game.

So, Zelda won’t be shown at E3 this year. With Splatoon launching in May, it will probably also be excluded from Nintendo’s stand, unless they just have a live tournament or something. The new console won’t be ready by then, so what will they be showing off? There must be something, or E3 is going to be a waste for them.

As I always say, I’d rather see a game delayed than launched in a lesser form than it should be. However, with Nintendo also launching a new console, some people are wondering if it will launch on the Wii U at all. Then again, if the new console is still a few years away, it’s unlikely that they will delay Zelda that long. In the end, I blame Alessandro. He recently bought a Wii U and raved about how he can’t wait to play the new Legend of Zelda game – he obviously jinxed it for the rest of us.

This game has been delayed for 4 years now… At this rate we’ll probably see this game on Ninty’s next console as a launch title, mark my words.

I don’t really get worked up about E3, over selling. I can tell when something is too good to be true. This picture above is more realistic concerning Wii U and Nintendo.

Never get caught up in the hype. Always wait for proper gameplay demos running on the damn console and not on a PC with “console matching” setting.

I played that Zelda Wii U demo in 2011. They never, ever said it was coming as a full game…ever. If you bought a console based on a demo, that sucks..but it’s entirely your own fault.

??? So if a demo releases of a franchise game that doesnt means it will ever exist?? seems legit…

Your fanboy retort doesnt affect me dude. But thanks for trying, I still stay with my original statement of Wii U being nothing they made it out to be… Millions of owners cant be wrong.

Same thing happened on the GameCube. They showed something like the first gif, and the game we got was Wind Waker.

Seems like Ninty has a ugly habit of lying to their fanbase on how powerfull their consoles are…. I’m starting to see a pattern here…

Tech Demos happen, like how they had one for FFVII on the PS3.

The FF13 vs tech demo wasnt playable, was it? NO! You claiming that 2011 Zelda was a tech demo too is BS I think they just abandoned the whole concept because they felt once again that it doesnt appeal to their demographic.

Why would people think that Nintendo would launch a new console anytime soon? The next Nintendo console is only being released at the end of 2017 with announcement at E3 2017.

Anyway. It’s good that publishers are more open now to delaying games. But that’s a given with Nintendo. It’s evil publishers like EA and Ubisoft that needs to learn about listening to developers and delaying games when needed. You can’t have a set time table for game creation and release on due date when the game is not ready.

Support Nintendo. They have been doing the right thing and Bayonetta 2 happened because of Nintendo.

Don’t Support EA. Don’t Support Ubisoft. CDPR is coming.

Tell that to their board members. Remember these devs are under obligation to finish a game in a certain time window where ever they like it, or not. Then if they dont meet their deadline then tough titties ,they have to show a profits some way.. Lie about mechanics, over hype the graphics, patch it countless times to fix glitches.. Hell do anything just to get people to buy it.

      True story.

That’s what I love about Japan. They’re so polite to their customers. Other people would reply with #dealwithit.
