\We’ve said many things about Zynga in the past few months and very few of them have really been positive. Zynga are most famously known for creating those annoying Facebook games that your friends spam you about.

Well 2012 was not a good year for them with their stock price cratering, their CEO being voted the 4th worst CEO on the planet, Facebook deciding they don’t need Zynga’s spam anymore and being stuck in numerous lawsuits claiming they stole gaming ideas from pretty much everyone.

Oh and what about paying $100 million for Pictionary clone, Draw Something, which resulted in them writing off $95 million after they realised the game oddly enough wasn’t worth that amount.

Well they said they were going to do some cost cutting and they have now started doing that with 11 games being canned in December alone, so if you were addicted to any of these then I’m sorry 2013 isn’t going to be great for you.

PetVille – Shut down December 30th
Mafia Wars 2 – Shut down December 30th
FishVille – Shut down December 5th
Vampire Wars – Shut down December 5th
Treasure Isle – Shut down December 5th
Indiana Jones Adventure World – Closed to new players, shuts down January 14th
Mafia Wars Shakedown – Pulled from app stores
Forestville – Pulled from app stores
Montopia – Shut down December 21st
Mojitomo – Pulled from app stores
Word Scramble Challenge – Pulled from app stores

Thankfully I’ve never gotten into any Zynga games so this doesn’t really bug me, but as Geoff mentioned last year. Is this the end of the casual gaming explosion.
