For whatever reason, humans love to argue about things. Not only that, but we seem to be hardwired to clutch on to our opinions of the things we argue about, never letting go of them.
We argue about whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza. We argue about the right way for the toilet roll to face, and whether or not a hotdog can be considered a sandwich. We’ll take to forums and social media to fight over whether Star Trek is better than Star Wars (they’re both rubbish, btw), or whether ebooks are better than the physical thing. We’ll stand around a braai (gas is still better, by the way) and engage in entirely pointless diatribes over the merits of Android over IOS, or whether video games can and should be considered “art.” Marmite or Bovril?
We get caught up in entirely pointless, needless arguments with fervour and passion. Me? I will always pronounce “gif” with a hard G, no matter what anyone says. I will assert that anime is complete nonsense, and that the Oxford comma is a vital part of the English language.
What entirely pointless arguments are you unable to let go of? We’re not about big things like freedom, religion, sexuality, politics or any of the other things society deems important. What entirely worthless hill are you willing to die on?
