Midweek Mouth-off: Amped for The Avengers?

Marvel’s The Avengers opens in South Africa tomorrow, over a week before the granddaddy of superhero squad movies hits US cinemas.

So, today we ask: How excited are you? What are you most looking forward to about the film? Are you watching it in 2D or converted 3D? Are you going on opening day or are you waiting for a quiet show?

Alternatively, are you avoiding the hype, and keeping your expectations reigned in? Are you waiting for consensus and/or trusted word of mouth before booking your ticket? Or, are you a comics-movie hater who has zero interest in The Avengers?

I’m looking forward to it, mainly because the marketing overload can end now! Randomly, there was a life size Iron Man statue parked on the side of the road on my route to work this morning, I’m assuming it’s got something to do with tomorrow’s release.

I won’t go see it straight away, I’ll probably leave it for a week or two until the cinemas aren’t overbooked

Tickets already booked! Watching the 8pm show tomorrow night with a bunch of mates, it’s going to be awesome, cannot wait! (I’m quite the comic movie fan so there might be some bias in my opinion, hehe)

Watched it. Balls to the wall action, effects and unexpected surprises that had me jumping out of my seat with glee. For the fanboys, this is geek nirvana, for the non fans, a total fun blast.

I don’t think it’s possible for me to be anymore excited about this film. Joss Whedon finally getting a cinema release in South Africa? And coupled with the overwhelming number of glowing reviews this film has received?

    Fuck yeah. Fuck. Yeah.

This along with Cabin in The Woods and Much Ado about Nothing means that this is the year of the Whedon, the year he finally gets the recognition we all knew he deserved

The wife just finished watching it and while she’s not a comic book fan she absolutely loved it…

I really hate how they are really pushing the 3D for this film. Cavendish is my only option for 2D and it’s not the most glamourous theatre out there : But I am soooooo stoked! This is cinematic history! Remember to wait after the credits too! 😀

It’s a post-processed 3D job? Why would anyone in their right mind watch that version?
