We’re sure by this point everyone has got over their knee-jerk reaction to the surprising news that Ben Affleck will be playing an older, established Dark Knight alongside Henry Cavill’s freshman Supes in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman-Batman movie. Now that you’d had a chance to digest the casting news for almost a week, we want to hear your thoughts.

Are you willing to give Ben a chance in the role, or do you still vehemently insist someone else should rather have donned the cape and cowl? If the latter applies to you, who’s your preferred choice? Certainly none of the The Movies team got it right when we made our picks

Two things bother me: The smirk, and the build. Time will tell though.

I’m happy, only thing I wonder about is how he’ll sound.

I’m very happy with the news. The more I think about it the more i like it. He is an amazing actor. He can do serious very well. I’m not a huge fan of the last Batman trilogy, there are multiple things in the trilogy I just didn’t like. One of those things is that I thought Bale made a very poor Bruce Wayne. His Batman was fantastic, but his Bruce Wayne left much to be desired. I think Ben would make a fantastic Bruce Wayne, and I certainly think he has the talent to pull of a good Batman as well.
As for his build, he has over a year to sort that out, and we’ve all seen what Hollywood trainers can do to person’s body.

I think he’ll do ok. I guess the success of the film lies mostly be in the writing / directing. And I agree with @disqus_DoEH3TsffU:disqus, I don’t want a Batman that sounds like he’s gangling gravel.

call me cautiously, optimistically, excited! Could prove to be a masterstroke and I don’t see why not! He has the acting chops for both the brooding bat and the socialite man (arguably a better playboy wayne than bale?) and if he signs on for a deal where he gets to have some creative influence in this film or the forthcoming justice league film(s), then all the better! As for his previous work as daredevil, given the script and other superhero movies of that time, I thought he did well (watch the directors cut if you haven’t). He’s come a long way as an actor and film person since then.

Everyone talks about how awesome the Director’s Cut is, but it is not available in SA at all… 🙁

I bought it at (I think) music moods a few years back, now you’d have to ship it to get it I guess…

I’m not too concerned about who plays Batman, especially not after the previous disaster of a film. I’m more worried on whether the combination of studio pressure and Snyder’s ability to overindulge his material might lead to a turkey of a film.
