First Kinect Review is in by mistake

Mark Prigg writing for the Evening Standard in the UK has the dubious honour of being the person widely reported as having the first ever Kinect review published.

The only problem is that all reviews are embargoed until the 4th of November (launch date) and as such the Evening Standard and Microsoft are now scrambling to assure everyone that this was actually a preview and not a review.

[pullquote]Just occasionally a piece of technology comes along that really is a ‘game changer’ – Mark Prigg[/pullquote]However I see that as more damage control than anything else as I don’t remember ever seeing a preview being given a rating before and Mark gave the Kinect 5 stars out of 5 in the print version of the article.

In reality this doesn’t mean much as Mark’s time with the device was supervised by Microsoft which obviously leads you to question how much freedom he had with the device and the last I checked the Evening Standard wasn’t the pinnacle of gaming journalism.

But as much as Microsoft will be publically trying to deny this review they will be ecstatic internally that a widely read mainstream paper has given their device 5 out of 5.

This smells like a Microsoft controlled leak, of all leaks, why a perfect score review got leaked. M$ is really riding the hype pony.

You don’t know what score they gave and as it stands it’s 5 out of 5.
Now if that score was 1 out of 5 then it would of been all smiles and I bet some of you would be saying “That’s why MS blocked it”

Nasa and the US goverment invested billions to get to the moon but I bet if you were told Microsoft devoloped the software a lot of you would join to the “The moon landings were fake loonie brigade”

Can’t wait for Kinect being that I have actually used one.
