How do you even begin writing a review for a gaming mouse that comes with a million buttons, 15 programmable functions, two wheels, weights, customizable panels and to top it all off… looks like it was designed by Batman.

Well if you are a gamer looking for a gaming mouse to match your awesome skills, then you are probably about to find out.

So… let’s just get all the specs out of the way before talking more about this crazy mouse:

  • Interchangeable Pinkie grips and Palm rests
    • 3 palm rests
    • 3 pinkie grips
  • Custom Weight System
  • Precision Aim Mode
  • 5600 DPI
  • 4 Custom DPI Settings
  • 5 Programmable Buttons
  • 3 Cyborg Modes
  • Powerful ST Programming Software
  • Lightweight Metal Chassis

OK, so those are the specs then but you can find those online pretty easily, so the question we are answering is… at around R900, is it worth actually buying one?

Hardcore Hardware

The Cyborg R.A.T. 7 is aimed at the most hardcore of hardcore gamers right? That explains why you can customize so much of it, right down to individual weights and multiple DPI settings, even on the fly. This mouse wants to be the best gaming mouse you have ever owned, and it makes itself very clear from the moment that you look at its packaging.

The mouse comes with software that allows you to customize settings and functions and I even managed to find drivers for Mac without any issues, so Mac gamers have no reason to feel left out.

What really surprised me though is that for something that looks like it wants to stab you in the face repeatedly, the mouse is actually incredibly comfortable once its in the palm of your hand. This, even more so when you can customize your palm and pinkie rests, and even shift the thumb rest forwards or backwards, all with a handy little tool (that you see screwed into the back of the mouse).

So when playing anything from a first person shooter to a real-time strategy game, the mouse feels really comfortable in your hands and pretty much does everything you could ever want a mouse to actually do. I mean heck, it even has a precision button that allows you to quickly lower your sensitivity down on the fly for the times when a clean headshot is just what the doctor ordered.

But What About The LOL-Cats?

You obviously don’t want to have to swap out between your Batmobile mouse and your normal everyday mouse when you want to just do normal things, so having something dedicated too much to gaming wouldn’t be ideal, but this is where I found myself surprised again. Due to the aforementioned comfort levels and customization, the mouse feels fantastic for normal everyday use and especially for mouse-intensive work use like Photoshopping pictures of cats doing strange things around the house.

Conclusion:

It is on that note then, that I can happily say that the Cyborg R.A.T. 7 Gaming Mouse comes highly recommended for pretty much everyone. Gamers will love it to the very end, heck, my wife even wants one for everyday use now.

Though the R900 price tag might seem a little steep for some, this is the Rolls Royce of PC mouses and for under a grand, you probably won’t be looking back any time soon.

Score: 9.5/10 – Highly Recommended
