You don’t have to have a game on launch day. The thing is, while you may have a burning urge to play said game right now, waiting can be beneficial. And with HD remasters popping up the whole time, you’re not just getting a smoother, complete game. You’re getting quite possibly the best version of that game. And it looks like the hard work on the creepy Metro remasters has paid off. Comrade.
The reviews are in for Metro Redux, and it’s a hit apparently. Here’s what critics have to say:
Metro Redux is the perfect entry point for series newcomers as it combines two of the best shooters in recent times in a remastered collection. In addition, series fans are in for a huge treat with the remastered Metro 2033 and Last Light games for replaying their favorite moments with improved gameplay and visuals. Metro Redux is far more than a high definition update, it’s a truly remastered and definitive experience.
A comprehensive rebuttal of the notion that next-gen remakes are only created for publishers to make a quick buck, this is a superbly polished update to two great games. Smart design tweaks and excellent visual advancements mean that life in the metro has seemed more attractive.
Metro Redux finally does the series justice on consoles, providing excellent visual and gameplay overhauls to both Metro 2033 and Last Light.
Despite their seemingly miserable setting, both Metro games are in fact fun, diverse shooter-adventures, and the remastered 2033 does a good job of smoothing down the original’s rougher edges at the expense of some of its brutal personality.
It’s that ebb and flow, that movement in and out of danger, and the panic you feel when danger finds you even when you think you should be most at peace, that makes Metro Redux such an excellent tour through the best and worst of a society in ruins.
On the whole, Metro Redux is a convincing refresh that not only rejigs some of the ageing mechanics, but offers an underrated series in an extremely attractive package. We can’t wait for the third entry, but this is an excellent return trip to the Metro in the meantime.

i like how everyone says its good, but then says its a shooter.
story, setting and stuff is great, but the shooter aspect of the games were weeeak

everything about how it played just felt unfinished.
i had just built my old pc when the game came out and i was still playing it on medium, i was heartbroken, was a good attempt for one of the first directX 11 games, my 5770 was a dx11 card, but would get like 20-25 fps when i ran it with dx11 on…

I played it a few months back, didn’t really get that impression. Stealth was a bit of a hit & miss, but otherwise it was pretty solid.

The 2nd one’s shooting mechanics were much better and they redid 2033’s shooting mechanics to match in the redux didn’t they?

Indeed they did. I’ve read nothing but good things about this Redux collection… Most outlets agree it’s pretty much setting the bar when it comes to HD remasters. I’m keen to try it out.

Did we? I Don’t think so, PC is lead platform for 4A Studios, and even the redux console versions don’t look as good as Vanilla Last light on PC…. they basically tweaked the settings from “low” to “Medium” for the new consoles…. 😛

I don’t think anyone disputes Metro 2033 needed the polish. Metro Last Light, on the other hand, seems like not much of an update for PC gamers.
