They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So having thousands of them, juxtaposed next to one another in a moving order must be like worth…trillions of words. As usual, we’v taken a two-pronged approach to our Mortal Kombat X review: We’ve got both a text option and a video version ready for your perusal. But this video review, is kinda special.
Because I finally got Geoff to join me and chat about NetherRealm’s latest fighting game. It’s like seeing Haley’s Comet twice in your lifetime, except it won’t burn your retinas to shreds. How awesome is that? Enjoy!

Just one important question. Is this game worth picking up now and getting-by on scraps for the remainder of the month? I’ve got my Witcher 3 funding sorted already, so there’s that. Still! This game. Yay or nay?

If you absolutely love fighting games I’d say yes. But if you’re more of a casual player I’d say wait for the Komplete edition with all the DLC included at discount price as they always do

Hmm, I do enjoy fighting games, sure! Thing is, I doubt I’d have anyone to play against at first. Only one remote and a humble clique of friends on PSN, which I doubt any would have MKX yet. Single-player wise, I’m more concerned about the sheer amount of content to unlock. I hope it’s meaty enough to keep one busy for a while! I remember playing Mortal Kombat Armageddon on PS2, and despite the qualms of many, I found it some awesome bang for it’s buck at the time. Hopefully I’ll be able to show a measure of restraint this time around. XD

The trick is don’t be shy, grab our PSN IDs and add them as friends, then jump in on online games.

Exactly, it’s made it a lot of fun joining up with guys here. Plus Sage, you and I need to have some rematches against Fodas and Tash.
Sageville
April 20, 2015 at 15:34
Agreed, also Tash isn’t allowed to use Takeda otherwise I may destroy a controller.

I mentioned to Geoff earlier about Takeda being too OP. His response, learn to block. I think Geoff should fight Tash. And if Geoff see’s this, it’s the same Tash we played against in Evolve.

I would say yay. It’s all I’m playing at the moment. A lot of fun and I haven’t started the story yet. Played more online and towers. But I’m planning on doing the story this week.

I’ve been meaning to ask, how’s the latency while playing online? Is it solid enough to compete?
Guild
April 20, 2015 at 15:21
I would say solid, I have had the occasional match against a friend who is on 3G and it hits a lag spike. Annoying but only happens with him. The others I’ve played against have been solid fluid games. We usually play King of the Hill. If you get it you should join in. It’s a lot of fun.

It would complement Witcher 3 nicely if you want a break from those sprawling rpgs.
Izzy
April 20, 2015 at 15:23
A promising idea! I still have Bloodborne to finish as well, but I sample that game like a fine wine. …Okay, truth is I’m just terrible at it and I need to take breaks every now and then to approach it anew. XD Still, it’s amazing.

Geoff & D together may not burn your retinas, but it’ll probably shatter your sanity.
