EA has some new Mercenaries 2 DLC planned this month and a bigger update in November.

The first DLC is called “Total Payback” and it includes a cheat that unlocks all the weapons, vehicles and air strikes, another one for infinite health and ammo as well as cross-region co-op, allowing you to play the game with people from all over the world (not that that really makes a huge difference to us in South Africa). It also adds six new playable characters into the mix. Total Payback can be yours for free from 13 October on Xbox Live and 20 October on PlayStation Network, with no mention of the PC.

As for November’s added content. EA’s press release describes it as “the first Mercenaries 2: World in Flames downloadable content”, which suggests that the free “Total Payback” is seen as more of a patch.

EA’s description may also mean that the November update will cost you money but to be fair the wording doesn’t specify – it just tells you to keep an eye on www.mercs2.com. And looking at what EA and Criterion have been doing with Burnout Paradise it could very well be free, guess we will have to wait and see.
