Unreal Tournament 3 Review

Gamezone has posted their review of Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3 and it is all good.

My favourite part of the entire review is the conclusion on the multiplayer aspect which earned a 9.7 only just pipping the 9.6 graphical score.

This is hands-down the best multiplayer game on the PS3 due to the ability create maps, skins and mods for the PS3 version.

The fact that a game has utilised the Unreal Engine on the PS3 and scored so fantastically well is a huge relief, it appears all the previous problems have now been sorted.

Game Dev Lesson #5489035 : Don’t release a game on an engine until the developer releases a game on it first.

Anyway, looks like UE3 is the leading platform for this generation, so we know that future PS3 games will run better on it. Looks like R6:LV2 isn’t going to have the same issues as the first one. Good to hear.

And UT3 looks awesome, can’t wait for the 360 version.

There are too many FPS multiplayer games, everytime a new one comes out the old one is forgotten, I cant keep up!

I agree with abe. You learn all the new nuances and then they fall by the wayside. I suppose this isn’t a massive issue overseas since there are so many players that you can always find a game of whatever takes your fancy. But in South Africa there aren’t enough of us. Halo’s popularity was too short-lived. Gears had a good run though. Anyone else agree?

@abe, that’s right, mostly cod4, but there are always people up for gears. There’s a 2v2 tourney at the moment that’s breathed some new life into the scene.

I agree with the general sentiment about multiplayer games though. I generally don’t buy games when they come out because i can’t always have the cash for it, but with MP games you hve to buy it early otherwise the scene has died by the time you get it.

I think that’s why UT3 for the PS3 is something to be excited about, it SHOULD have the kind of longevity that GoW has had.

Yea, thats the thing, I havent picked up cod4 yet and as a result I probably wont, otherwise I will get it and then everyone will just move on again!

COD4 is truly awesome, I see it staying active for quite a while still…

Halo 3 never really took off in South Africa though.

I think COD4 and Gears will be the top 360 games until Unreal comes to the 360..

I am looking forward to this purely for Keyboard/ Mouse support on the PS3, I really battle with the normal controller and FPS on the consoles.

yeah i’m still not 100% on the controller. Makes my hands cramp up. Nice that the PS3ers have that option, but I don’t like the idea of a kb/mouse in the lounge, kinda defeats the point of a console.
