The next generation consoles from both Sony and Microsoft will feature hardware from Canadian chipmaker AMD. Like everyone else, AMD believes this will give it the edge when it comes to PC versions of next-gen games.
Speaking to Forbes, vice president Matt Skynner said that next-gen games on PC will be better because “it’s easier to port the games.”
“Because they’re first developed on our hardware, there should be a performance advantage,” he said. “They should run better on our hardware.
“Couple years ago when we saw how the console thing was gonna shake out, we thought how can we leverage this to a better Radeon gaming solution across other markets, so if we can create that performance advantage on the PC – from a graphics point of view – then we can give our customers a better gaming experience and grow our market share.”
Funny. you’d think that would most certainly be the case, but it seems Nvidia’s not out of the race. Ubisoft’s inked a deal with the Taiwanese chipmaker to make its future games prettier on that hardware, and it seems they’re not the only ones.

Um except that the games are developed on PC’s not consoles. And I highly doubt all the developers are using AMD. Also Why not just develop proper PC titles then scale down for the consoles instead of giving us sub standard ports.

Games are developed on PC’s yes. But these games need to work on consoles too so Developers will use the most common denominator. Which is AMD. AMD optimisation will come before anything else simply due to ease of coding.
I’m an nVidia fanboy and even I know this is going to happen 🙁

Tressfx works very pretty on my SLI NVIDIA setup.
Physx does not work on my crossfire amd setup…

I’m with you on this one, the only reason I would change of ATi to Nvidia is due to 3rd party support, NVidia feels a lot more open to GPU support for applications with 3rd party developers, like render engines and so on. This poor ATi card of mine is flapping its hands while my CPU suffers from constant rendering.

Somehow I want to agree and somewhat not, been with AMD for about 8 years and it feels as if amd is falling behind in some way. Considering 3rd party developers, ATi/AMD seems to be ignoring them. As of right now, with my line of work I’m considering in moving away from AMD for support reasons.

Well that is where the most of the market is going and the way AMD has been loosing market share last couple of years they have to chase the mass market.
Intel however have been sitting pretty with lots of moolla coming in, so they can afford to push the envelope more. I think Intel has manage to get a good balance between low cost and APU type processor, low power processors and high-end processors.
Also Intel have of other specialty chip makers using their foundries that offsets the HUGE cost involved in setting up new tech foundries.
