Counter-Strike made virtually real

SOREAL

I’m intrigued by the deluge of Virtual Reality options that’ll be coming to gaming systems. no matter how real things seems though, there’s the lack of body response making it less tactile, thus destroying the illusion. Pair it up with something like the Virtuix Omni though, and games are as real as they’ll ever be.

Here’s a new demo of Counter Strike running on the Omni, coupled with the Oculus Rift headset and a nifty gun-shaped motion controller. Of course, the videos been edited to make the experience seem more conducive to competitive play than it really is, but it looks like he at least hold his own.

Honestly? It’s neat, but it seems far too much like hard work. I play games to relax, not run about. I’m a lazy bastard; I don’t want to actually have to run in real life to run in my games.

Then of course there’s the price. the Virtuix Omni is available on pre-order for a cool $500. couple that with the $300 it’ll cost you for an Oculus Rift dev kit and the $50 it’ll cost you for the U.S Army Elite Force Assault Rifle Controller and you’re looking at a significant cost to play games so real you may as well go outside and do them.

While the normal gamer wins with his extra sensitive gamer mouse thanks to one finger movement and no lag.
