EA announces Heroes of Dragon Age

Do you have a mobile device?  Do you like Dragon Age?  Then have I got news for you!

EA Capital Games, formerly known as BioWare Sacramento, is developing a free-to-play mobile spinoff called Heroes of Dragon Age.  The company describes the game as a

“squad-based combat game with addictive hero collection and engaging quests.”

You will build your party of heroes and monsters from packs of new fighters, sort of like digital trading cards.  So, competition to Blizzard’s Hearthstone?  Characters and monsters will be drawn from across Dragon Age lore – so I’m guessing we’ll see some familiar faces.

It’s a cross platform game coming to iOS and Android in the coming months. Here are some screen shots to pique your interest.

I don’t know, I love Dragon Age, but I’m not sure I’ll just on this game.  Maybe just once, just to bide my time until Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out.  Okay, I admit it, I’ll probably get addicted just because it’s Dragon Age.  But only if they do away with that stupid blood spatter all the time – just wipe off your face when you’re done killing everyone!

I think I’m going to pass on this. I know it’s Free-to-play, but I’m yet to play a F2P game that I enjoyed. The vast majority are so soulless, it makes my teeth hurt. The design principles rest on a simple mantra of simple controls, simple settings, but with a push to get you to spend REAL money on superfluous points or coins – that make progress in later levels easier.

After playing this game for about 2-3 weeks i can say it is terrible. You probably can’t get a worse gated pay to win game.
