GTX 1080 Ti leaked 2

The GTX 1080Ti is like that really badly kept secret that you know overall is true, but you’re not quite sure of the details. Nearly four months ago existence of the card was rumoured, and it was assumed that Nvdia’s next release would be their more mainstream, Titan-powered flagship. It ended up being the more budget GTX 1050, but there’s still room for another Pascal launch soon. I mean, it’s not like there haven’t been many this year already.

The GTX 1080Ti was spotted on a shipping manifest by Videocardz, who have a good track record of noticing new cards in the wild well ahead of launch. This Ti version of the current flagship is reportedly sticking to tradition – in that it aims to take the board from the less gaming focused Titan-X and tune it for the best single card gaming money can buy. That means cramming the full GP102 chip into the Ti, although exact counts on cores and the like can’t really be assumed from the Titan’s specifications.

What was noted from the leak was the memory, which apparently sits at 10GB. There’s no way of knowing what type of memory it is, but given that the GTX 1080 uses GDDR5X it’s a good guess to make. Nvidia could even choose to jump the gun and implement HBM2 for the first time, which would certainly up the price but drive down power consumption. It’s more likely that they’re saving that for their Volta line of cards which come next, but nothing is impossible.

Aside from that, there’s not much else solid enough to go on regarding the 1080Ti, but it’s usually a case of a little waiting time when leaks like this happen. It could be that Nvidia might be prepping the card for an early launch in the new year, so be careful not to break the Christmas bank too much if you’re eyeing out an upgrade of this calibre.

Wait… Does the world even need a Ti version of the 1080? The 1080 is already bordering on overkill haha.

Could find a picture off the Graphics card that is less offensive? You know, one that portrays our rainbow nation /s

I love reading about these flagships. Will never buy them, though. Remember when the 8800 GTX hit? It was hardcore. I must have read a hundred articles about it. But 2 years later I could get a “mid-range” card which performed twice as fast at half the price.

If you take the money you would spend on this, halve it, spend half on a GPU now and the other half on a GPU in 3 years time. You will have a better card than this in 3 years time. And almost certainly be able to play at high/1080p from now until then.

    One can dream though
