PlayStation 4 – The best place to play

PEEEEEEEESFORE

No, we’ve not thrown what little objectivity we have under the bus and fully embraced Sony. “The best places to play” is the name of the latest trailer for the PlayStation 4, made to entice gamers to Sony’s new consoles. It shows off things like Destiny, DriveClub, The Order 1886, Batman: Arkham Knight and all sorts of other triple A games to try and convince people that’s it’s not just a very expensive indie game machine. Check it out.

What do you think? Is this the sort of thing that convinces people to shell out R6799 for a games console? Anything you see there that really has you interested?

it is an odd omision, but perhaps they’re focusing on the PS4 as a product in itself, TLOU while an amazing swan song for the PS3 is not really a native to the prior

Has the possible price difference between the PS4 and XBone been discussed any where.

With the Kinect gone and with the price drop, if the pricing stays the same the Xbone is going to be R2k cheaper than the PS4 when it gets here.

depends, september is the start up of holiday marketing and you can bet your butt that sony will introduce a price drop.

edit: but I do think that when the xb does arrive chances are they’ll both be in the same region. 6.2-6.7

But you have to remember that SA get its PS stock via the UK so the pricing is coupled to the GBP price and exchange.
        349 x 17.6 = 6150 + shipping/duty expenses = R6799
where as the Xbox stock have always been directly imported coupled to the USD price and exchange:
        399 x 10.5 = 4190 so final pricing will be in the R4499 to R4799 range.

And I do not see a PS price drop without an Xbox price drop and there will defnitly be no 30% price drops.

oh no no, dont forget your rates and taxes, you can easily slap on another 1-1.3 per unit on that alone, nevermind markup. I cant imagine it would be MORE expensive than the PS but a full 30% less? Theres not a chance in hell.

I would say that it would be about 15%-17% cheaper than the ps4. Given current market values. Highly doubt the PS4 will drop in price anytime soon. Not like they need to, to be honest. So the question is, would you spend a 1K less on an inferior console?

I have a ps and that just made me want to sell it. I play :P. My concern is E3 and whats on the plate. Considering the cool stuff is now incoming over the next 2 years now that the “next” part of this gen has died, I think it might be the decider of who is going to take the lead. Xb is starting to look like an option for a lot of folk after september with their cloud farms being setup all over the show. Sony’s gaikai is still nowhere to be seen and we’re still waiting for the Vita tv.

Dont get me wrong, Im not up for all the cheese we’re going to be expected to eat over the next couple of weeks, but either way its going to be a pretty exciting E3 considering all those promises are going to start to materialise now.

No games? It’s pushed 17.35 million software units, at retail (ergo, not including PSN purchases). Old repurposed meme from the PS3 era doesn’t apply.

Because the PS4 is available to more countries? Compared to the Xbox One, only game that probably worth getting on the PS4 that is available is Killzone and Infamous.

Yeah, you realize you’re on a South African gaming website, where the Xbox One hasn’t released yet, and there are a number of folks who frequent the site who have the X1 already, right? You did notice Titanfall for the X1, ranking in countries (sales charts) where the X1 hasn’t launched, right?

The fact of the matter is, the X1 is currently released in the absolute biggest markets for Microsoft, by FAR. And even still, many of the stores in Europe, move units to locations where the X1 hasn’t been released yet. Bottom line, it’s available to the people who want it. And there aren’t that many people right now. That may change with the kinectless SKU, but it remains to be seen whether Microsoft can take some of Sony’s momentum, which is hard to do when you have the weaker machine, and the more difficult to code for machine. Much worse than last gen for Sony, when they had the marginally more powerful machine, but much harder to code for.

E3 is extremely important for Microsoft this year. And by the way, all of that aside, The One being officially released in less countries, has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of games out for the PS4. None whatsoever. But, since you made it an issue, I’ll just point out that there are currently more games (34) for the PS4, than the One (30).

Don’t know if you noticed but kids can’t buy consoles overseas unless their parents provide the support for them, just wait until Xbox One Launches in new territories the kids are gonna pop up out of nowhere.

            June 3, 2014 at 16:00

Yeah, don’t know if you noticed, but most kids don’t get their hands on $399 without their parents permission in the first place. And, again, you’re ignoring the fact that X1 IP have ranked in countries where the X1 isn’t launched. So…you know, hold onto that golden parachute if you want. It’s not going to make much of a difference in the long run. Microsoft needs way, way more than to depend on some fringe nations to pick up the slack of getting murdered in Europe and the US.

And this STILL doesn’t have anything to do with your original claim of the PS4 has no games. So keep changing the topic, if you like, but I’m going to keep bringing it back in the end.

Both Sniper Elite and Sniper Ghost Warrior is pretty decent sniper games. They don’t have great graphics but both do some pretty cool things!! And they are completely different in how they approach the genre, and both works well. But I would say skip the first iteration of both and play Sniper Elite 2 and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. The kill shot where the bullet goes through the guys head and you see the inside of it is just gratifying beyond believe, that is more than enough of a reason to play SE!!

Buying 9 PS4 games constitutes the price of 1 PS4.

From a guy that is saving up for his wedding(that is 5 months away): had my ps4 since launch and I am dead happy with my console and the steady release of games. The game prices are ridiculous at the moment(can’t afford frequent buying) and I don’t always have time to play. Child of light and Second Son is still keeping me busy. Next week it’s WatchDogs and that will keep me busy for a while 🙂

    Can’t wait for E3 news!!!
