This mouse is also a fully-functioning computer

When it comes to peripherals that allow us to interact with our computers, the mouse is still my favourite. While writing is obviously best done on a keyboard and some games might play better with a controller, there is something oddly satisfying about moving your hand around and just clicking on things. Old school Diablo fans will know what I mean. Yes, voice prompts are cool, but less intuitive than a mouse control will ever be.

However what if instead of just having a mouse to control your computer, the mouse was the computer? Well, that is what this one YouTuber Electronic Grenade has seemingly spent their time doing as they have built a mouse that is its own fully fledged computer, with a built in screen and keyboard wholly intact.

The mini-computer is actually quite simple in design with the mouse casing housing a Raspberry Pi Zero W, which is then connected to some sensors taken from another mouse, a 1.5-inch OLED mounted on top and a small Bluetooth keyboard. All of these combined create an actual fully functioning computer. Yes, the screen might make a little tricky to use, but the fact that you can actually do something productive on it (like play 15 seconds of Minecraft) is still pretty cool.

So, next time you’re thinking about upgrading your rig at home, remember that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to game away. All it takes is a little ingenuity, lots of time on your hands and patience. Yes, your graphics might not look as cool anymore and you might end up less productive in the long run, but at least you’re saving yourself some hard cash. Right?
