Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!
Whenever I watch a superhero movie, I make it a habit to never walk out of the cinema until every single credit has rolled off the screen – and sometimes not even then – because I know that there will most likely be a post-credits scene and I don’t want to be that guy who has no idea what people are talking about. “Whaddya mean Professor X is still alive?!”
Strangely enough, not everybody has adopted this habit yet, which meant that a lot of people walked out of Avengers before the big Thanos reveal. But have no fear, because in anticipation of the film’s home release, Marvel have released a whole bunch of clips from the film including that famous scene. And now you can watch it to your heart’s content.
If you haven’t heard, Kristen Stewart and her Snow White and the Hunstman director Rupert Sanders have been up to some very naughty stuff. The pair were caught on camera being more than just colleagues, and since Stewart has been in a long standing relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, and Sanders is married with children, the internet promptly exploded as soon as the news broke.
Now we normally don’t post tabloid styled news over here (What do you mean you actually look at other sites on the internet? Judas!) so why is this relevant? Well, Sanders’ obviously pissed off wife has laid down on an ultimatum, if he wants to patch things up: He is forbidden from working with Stewart ever again, including the planned Snow White sequel which he was set to direct. Ouch.
While that’s certainly one less big paycheck for Sanders, Stewart certainly has no shortage of roles, adultery be damned. The dour-faced actress has landed the lead in Scott “Crazy Heart” Cooper’s adaptation of William Styron’s 1951 novel “Lie Down in Darkness”.
Here’s a solid litmus test for whether or not somebody is a robot or not: Put on Wall-E and they don’t get misty-eyed ? Shoot them in the head, before they take over the world. I am not a robot, which is why Wall-E is easily my favourite PIXAR film, and thus why Mike Senna from California has made me extremely jealous.
Just because Sam Raimi is now officially AFK for the World of Warcraft film, doesn’t mean it’s standing still. Blood Diamond and K-Pax scribe Charles Leavitt has now been assigned the task of creating a new script for the film.
It’s official. 3D is not making the same money as it used to. RealD, the company that created the most widely used form of 3D technology being employed in cinemas today, has posted their earnings for this quarter which is down 68% from the same period last year. This has caused their stock price to plummet 18% as well.
One film I’m really excited to see is the documentary-that’s-so-messed-up-that-you-wouldn’t-believe-it’s-a-documentary, Impostor. The trailer was creepy as hell, in a real world kind of way, and now we have suitable disturbing poster to go along with it.
If you’ve just been craving to see pictures of Hugh Jackman in a blue hoodie, wandering around some Australian set made to look like the Canadian Rockies, then boy do I have some good news for you!
What’s with all the sudden love for ol’ Honest Abe? Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (expect our review on Monday) will soon be released, Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis are going fishing for Oscars with their entry, Lincoln, closer to the end of the year, and now Terrence Mallick is also taking a swing at the president. The Green Blade Rises is still very early in development, but has seen its first casting in the form of Diane Kruger, who will play the young Abe’s step-mother.
Here’s a new Skyfall image that shows off 007 paying a visit to the glass cage prison of Javier Bardiem’s
love-child of Max Zorin and Hannibal Lecter new Bond baddie, Raoul Silva. Click to supersize the pic.
Moneyball actor Chris Pratt is looking to star in an English-language remake of the 2011 French Canadian film Starbuck. He’ll star as David Wozniak, a full-time slacker, part-time sperm donor, who learns that under the alias “Starbuck” he has fathered over 500 children, a group of whom have banded together to find out his identity.
Is it just me, or is this final poster for Dredd 3D borrowing quite heavily from the poster for 2003’s Daredevil?
Let me just state this up front, so that there’s no confusion. This video showing Michael Bay joining Kickstarter to finance Bad Boys 3 is a fake. That’s not really Michael Bay. But oh man, it certainly is speaking the truth! Explosion!
(Oh and this version of Bay is as foul-mouthed as he is funny, so this might be a bit NSFW)
