Gerard Butler is clearly trying to win that coveted “Busiest Man in Hollywood” title. He’s already looking to go on a diamond heist in Brilliant, single-handedly protect the White House in Olympus Has Fallen, scavenge for post-apocalyptic treasure in Afterburn, get his surf on in Of Men and Mavericks and even seduce some soccer moms in Playing the Field.
Yet with all of that, he’s still finding time to go on a little hunting trip. Oh did I mention that the game is a terrorist hiding out in the wilderness?
Deadline reports that Butler is currently in the final stages of negotiations to star in
At this point it’s uncertain if Butler will be taking on the role of the terrorist or the bear hunter, but he could honestly pull off both pretty well. Personally I’m hoping that he takes on Tollan, just so that there is a chance of him kicking some red-shirt FBI agent into a spike-pit trap screaming “THIS IS CAROLINA!!”
Iron Man scriptwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will be providing the screenplay, while director Breck Eisner will be at the helm of this crazy hunting trip. Though I found Eisner’s Sahara a bit crappy, I thought he did a decent enough job with the 2010 remake of The Crazies, so hopefully this is another step up in quality for him. He is expected to kick off production in the last quarter of the year.
