The fact that Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones and that pretty blonde girl from Glee are making a movie directed by Luc Besson, should be way more of a deal than it currently is. But thanks to a couple of trailers where the quality was spottier than leopard acne, The Family just doesn’t seem to be building much anticipation.

But trailers can sometimes undersell a film, so how about we check out a trio of clips straight from the film to get a true feel for how it plays out.

A mafia boss and his family are relocated to a sleepy town in France under the witness protection program after snitching on the mob. Despite the best efforts of CIA Agent Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones) to keep them in line, Fred Manzoni (Robert De Niro), his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer) and their children Belle (Dianna Agron) and Warren (John D’Leo) can’t help but revert to old habits and blow their cover by handling their problems the “family” way, enabling their former mafia cronies to track them down. Chaos ensues as old scores are settled in the unlikeliest of settings in this darkly funny film by Luc Besson (Taken, Transporter).

That doesn’t seem too bad at all. I particularly like the banter between De Niro and Pfeiffer, and the nice darkly comic tone that Besson is going for. And Dianna Agron – that would be the pretty blonde girl from Glee mentioned earlier – seems to be to slot right into her family’s knack for using sporting equipment on the heads of other people.

Along with the three clips, five new character posters have also dropped, introducing us to this dysfunctional family. And their dog.

Dianna Agron sure knows how to mean mug with the best of them, and judging from these 30 new images from the film, she seems to be a chip off the ol’ block.

The Family opens on September 30, 2013.
