Central Intelligence

I’m a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson – he’s a veritable walking man-mountain of muscle and charisma – so the pairing of both Johnson and the incredibly funny Kevin Hart in the upcoming action-comedy Central Intelligence is a match made in heaven for me.

And while I agree with Kervyn that the first trailer wasn’t the best, this new trailer does away with the rapid cuts that didn’t work very well; choosing instead to let the gags play out a bit longer much to its benefit.

As a reminder of what the movie is about, the plot synopsis is as follows:

The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.

Now that’s more like it! I loved the interplay between Hart and Johnson, the latter coming across as a big goofy kid loving the hell out of his violent fantasy of a life. Unfortunately for Kervyn, this trailer will cause even worse nightmares involving a jolly jiggling Johnson. What do you think?

Central Intelligence is due for release on 17 June. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball, We’re The Millers) and written by Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen (The Mindy Project), it also stars Aaron Paul, Amy Ryan, Danielle Nicolet and (possibly) Bobby Brown.
