There’s no denying that right now, DC is getting their ass handed to them by the Marvel and Disney tag team of films hitting cinemas. Marvel has a game plan that is working pretty damn well, with numerous characters on the big screen. DC on the other hand, barely has one property a year arriving on the big screen. Well expect that to change soon.
Warner Bros has reportedly earmarked several franchises for the big screen, but with smaller budgets. Lesser known characters such as Deathstroke, Team 7 and the members of the Suicide Squad could hit the silver screen with $20 million films, with the more expensive properties capping out at $40 million.
And that’s a great idea. The advantage of making films such as these, is that DC will be focusing on “street” characters, meaning tighter budgets with quick shoots. That’s the kind of schedule that could see DC bookend the summer and winter parts of the year with films, in addition to their bigger franchises. There are a ton of DC comics that could easily fill that budget shoot, from the Question through to the Secret Six.
I’d pay full price to see those films on the screen.

Dredd showed what can happen with a smaller budget, it’s a great movie. Pity about no one going to watch it though. Sometimes life just isn’t fair :/
