Comedic gal pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are awesome. Thanks to their incredible hosting gigs of the Golden Globes as well as their work on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, this is an immutable, unassailable fact. So really, when I heard that the duo were pairing up for an R-Rated feature film comedy I was already sold without even knowing what the hell it was about. It turns out it’s just about Fey and Poehler hanging out together as “sisters” and crack a whole lot of jokes as they get up to woman-child shenanigans. In other words: SOLD!
The first green band (i.e. no naughty words) trailer for Sisters, which is directed by Pitch Perfect helmer Jason Moore, has now been released, and looks to be as goofy and raucous as just about everything we’ve seen from these two funny ladies. Check it out below.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler star as two disconnected sisters who are summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need.
Sisters also stars Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, and yes, John Cena. And proving that these two ladies back down for nobody, Sisters is scheduled to open on December 18, 2015. Y’know, the same day as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Yikes.
