Microsoft’s global product manager Guy Welch has announced that Gears of War 2 has in fact managed to sell a massive 4 million units over the last 2 months, doubling the sales pace of the original.
While I am very happy for them, I cannot help but feel a little upset by the fact that there are so many small factors that have made the taste of this almost great title a little sour. We have all done our fair share of complaining and the problem is that it’s been for a good reason.
The multiplayer is still buggy as hell and to be honest, I don’t really have much faith in the upcoming patch that is said to fix a lot of the issues. Matchmaking is still quite broken and the cherry on top for all South Africans is of course, the fact that we didn’t all get the flashback map codes.
I love the game, I really do, I have already put many hours into the multiplayer since it’s release but at the same time, I just can’t help but feel that the it’s not fair that large companies can release games that are so buggy and half-broken in so many areas and still manage to make an absolute killing, regardless of the issues.
At least the patch is coming soon and we can all hope for the best, but surely all of these issues should have been addressed before the games release.
