You know what, when I read up about this story it became clear pretty quickly that videogames were becoming yet another victim to media BS.

You see, what happened is that the murder victim Danny Taylor’s girlfriend reports that she was out picking up some things, but when she came back she saw her boyfriends buddy running out the apartment with a gun in his hand. She went into the apartment and saw her boyfriend lying dead on the floor with a bullet wound to the back of his head, controller in hand and COD still running on the TV.

So what was the cause of the argument?

What the news is saying is that while two friends were playing COD, they got into an argument that caused the victim’s friend, Joseph Johnson to get his weapon and shoot Danny Taylor. They make no mention to if the murder was in any way related to the actual gaming activity, so for all we know, the victim may have just told the shooter that he was sleeping with his wife.

But it’s the same old story, although I will at least say that no one has jumped up and blamed videogaming for the death (yet) and if they do it will be pointless because they don’t actually have any proof, and accusing the gaming activity would be as pointless as blaming bowling had they been out for the night.
