It’s really been slim-pickings for Xbox 360 exclusives this year; so much so that it took us ages to even come up with a list of nominees. Microsoft’s been so focused on Kinect and the peripherals casual fare to worry much about us real gamers – to the point that if it wasn’t for the deluge of incredible 3rd party multiplatform titles many adherents would have gone to the Dark Side.
Here are the nominees for best Xbox 360 Exclusive:
Dance Central 2
Gears of War 3
Forza Motorsport 4
And the award goes to:
Winner: Gears of War 3
While it may seem like a win by default, there’s no doubt that Epic Games’ conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy kicked off and ended with a bang. A great co-op campaign, an expansive multiplayer and some actual storytelling makes Gears of War 3 the easy winner – likely even if there was more for it to compete with. With an expansive array of multiplayer options; from Horde 2.0 improved by adding minor tower-defense mechanics, the newly added beast mode allowing players to experience things from a different perspective and some of the most intense competitive matches, Gears of War 3 is this years best Xbox exclusive – and one of the year’s best games. Isn’t that right, Oldfart?
Runner-Up: Forza Motorsport 4
