The newly remade turn-based-strategy XCOM: enemy Unknown has had some pretty amazing marketing so far, including a fantastic interactive trailer, and a tongue-in-cheek attempt to sell the game to the wrong people.

The guys at Firaxis and 2K probably know it’s a hard sell, trying to convince fans of games like Call of Duty or Gears of War to pick up a title, which on paper sounds like it could be frightfully dull if you need never-ending action just to keep awake.

That’s probably why this trailer exists, showing some of the more action-oriented bits of the new XCOM. while this is all in-game footage, it’s cut together to make the game seem like far more of an action game than it actually is, and isn’t particularly indicative of the game.

It’s out next week on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. and it’s good. Really, really good.
