In a week’s time, the biggest event on the South African gaming calendar kicks off. Yeah, that’s right – it’s just a week until this year’s rAge. Taking place, s per usual, under the embowed roof of the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate Johannesburg, rage rAge brings together the most popular and cutting-edge games, technology, gadgets and gaming-related products.

We’ve got 5 tickets to give away to you, our faithful readers. Here’s how.

All you have to do is comment on this page. Really. It’s that simple. We’ll be selecting five winners at random next Thursday morning – and those winners will be able to collect their tickets at the door. Why should you want to go to rAge? Well, it promises to be bigger and better than last year’s event for starters.

“We are happy to report an attendance growth of 8% from 2009 with a total of 20,316 visitors at the 2010 rAge expo. Additionally 2,080 NAG LAN tickets sold out in 36 hours. This year we expect to top 23,000 visitors with the LAN selling out in record time again. The psychosocial demographic of our visitors has also exploded in recent years, from our earliest rAge events visited primarily by your characteristic gamer, we now see many more families and consumers from all age brackets and LSM categories. Gaming is now truly for everyone,” said Michael James, Senior Project Manager for rAge of last year’s gaming extravaganza.

Oh wait, you wanted a proper reason to go? Maybe Streetfighter vs. Tekken, Assassins Creed Revelations, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, FIFA12 and Batman: Arkham City? How about the fact that Telkom, EA and ASUS will all have EA and DICE’s anticipated Battlefield 3 playable at the event, running on cutting edge hardware? Yeah..though that might do it.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
