The Gamescom Awards are always a little weird. The nominees for this year’s Gamescom Awards were announced well before Gamescom itself kicked off. For games to have been nominated, the publishers had to have paid a nominal fee, along with a host of other little rules – which makes them all a little suspect. In the end the winners were decided upon by a group of judges from German and international publications and retailers. Here’s who they selected as winners of Gamescom this year

I’m confused.. How can a game win an award when it hasn’t even been released yet?

it will never fail to disgust me how this shit works. Just like ol’ PUBG getting umpteen awards for “best game” blah blah blah only to turn out to be an utter development mess (nevermind their moronic lawsuits they were throwing around like confetti instead of, idk, FIXING THE FUCKING GAME)
These preemptive “best” awards are trite at best and massively consumer unfriendly at worst.
It really does need to come to a goddamn end
