Rage 2010 – Watch The Lazygamer Team Pwn At Kinect Table Tennis

The Lazygamer team was at Rage 2010 this weekend to check out all the sights and sounds and one of our stops was at the large Microsoft stand in the center of the Dome.

Geoff and I decided to go head-to-head in a game of Kinect Table Tennis to put it through its paces and see if we could break it. Watch in awe as we prove that Table Tennis balls can be kicked and that masturbation motions can be used as a solid technique.

Thanks to CraigN (Check his blog out here) for catching it all on camera (in HD) and then editing some really strange but funny music into it as well.

Watch and learn in the full video after the jump.

I heard that if Kevin Butler stands in front of the Kinect it will get a RROD!

You realise it would be far more efficient if the left handed player stood on the left?

    Bloody journalists suck at gaming

how is kinect? i went to rage, but i was not patient enough to wait in the queues but from a distance though it looks like the lag is there but is not so bad as i thought. unfortunately not a single game except dance central impressed me.

The lag is definitely there, it took a little bit of time for us to get used to hitting a little earlier than usual. You get used to it pretty quick, although these are earlier (e3) builds of the Kinect and as far as I know, the new builds are better.

In the beginning of the game remember we had to put our hands in those green circles, im starting to think we were supposed to put our hand of choice in the circle to choose.

MiNeM was actually filming for me on my crappy little camera, CraigN’s was much much better.

Some people are retarded. I watched 2 guys standing in front of kinect while it tried to configure and in big writing on the screen it said “Raise hands above head” so they both raise their hands to shoulder level.

I actually couldn’t stop myself from laughing because 1 of the booth girls who no doubt was not a gamer was showing these guys how to raise their hands over their heads

@AC!D Move Table Tennis is definitely the best due to its accuracy, although Kinect Table Tennis has its appeal because its a bit easier to play and again, you dont need to hold any controllers so its really easy to get into, especially for the more casual gamers that I saw playing. So its the same thing again really, Move = Accuracy, Kinect = easy and accessible.

Having played them all, I favour sports Champions’ Table tennis. By quite a large margin.

The are only a few things I remember first being the Overwhelming XBOX presence I mean every 2nd booth was either a Kinect game or Halo Reach, the EA cage was worthy of mention and a few embarrassing moments I had with Dance Central and one of those hot booth babes coming to my aid other than that it was a bit dissapointing. Everyone hates on MS but honestly they had adiquette representation at RAGE as opposed to SONY and Nintendo whos boothes I could barely find. When it comes to distributers EA were the only ones that stood out it was so hard to find other games that were not EA or Xbox related which was very dissapointing in my book.

MS, Megarom and EA seem to always usually have a good presence
