The cult classic Martin Scorsese gangster film, which chronicled the rise and fall of the trio of thieves, mobsters and friends, is now in development for television as a new series.
AMC is currently developing the 1990 film, which starred Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, with original film producer Nicholas Pileggi on board as an executive producer, who will also be joined by Homicide: Life on the Street producer Jorma Zamacona.
Original Goodfellas producers Irwin Winkler and David Winkler round out the production team heads. No other details have been given so far as to time frame, characters or debut dates.
The original Goodfellas film won several Oscars after it’s release, including best film, and was also responsible for me wearing a smart suit and speaking in a terrible Bronx-Italian dialect for several years after I saw it.

AMC’s doing well so far, so this should be interesting.

They should get Ray Liotta as the main character. Not like he’s doing anything else at the moment.

As much as I love AMC, I don’t think I’ll ever forgive them for cancelling Rubicon. Bastards.
