When it comes to who the hardest working man in Hollywood is, it would seem that Michael Fassbender is about to kick Samuel L. Jackson’s motherf&#ing behind off the throne. Fresh off flashing his penis to critical acclaim in Shame, the crazy talented Irishman recently went toe to toe with Gina Carano in Haywire, will soon be ‘droiding it up in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi extravaganza Prometheus, and will also be turned into the mythical Celtic hero, Cuchulain.

And now, Deadline has confirmed that he will be taking the lead role in the Ridley Scott directed and Cormac McCarthy penned thriller, The Counselor.

To refresh your memory, The Councellor was the script that acclaimed author Cormac McMcarthy turned in much to his agents’ surprise, as they were expecting an update on his next novel. Ridley Scott got involved almost immediately, which is in actual fact not surprising seeing as previous adaptations of McCarthy’s novels, The Road and No Country For Old Men, went on to win not only much critical acclaim but also a number of Oscars in the case of the latter.

The Counselor would see Fassbender as “a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation”

The industry insiders over on Deadline are also claiming to hear reports that Scott may be considering either Brad Pitt, Jeremy Renner or Bradley Cooper for the main villain. And as they pointed out, the last time a McCarthy penned villain took to the screen it resulted in Javier Bardiem walking away with an Oscar for one of the creepiest haircuts performances of the last few years.

I don’t know about you guys, but my hype-meter’s needle just shot all the way into the red.
