Did you know that Harry Potter author, J.K Rowling is the second wealthiest woman in entertainment? Her net worth is somewhere between “Holy crap” and Scrooge McDuck. And yet, it seems like almost every day the film studios are finding new ways to get me to give her more of my money.
Case in point, this utterly magical new Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection Blu Ray boxset now available for preorder.
It is a mammoth collection and short of wrapping a skinny kid in a dish cloth, calling him Dobby and shoving him inside one of the box’s drawers, it contains pretty much everything that a Harry Potter fan could ask for. Thus far Warner Bros themselves have not yet released an official description of the set, but Amazon Canada has this listed:
Contains 31 discs, inclusive of all content ever previously released, in addition to over 5 hours of never before seen special features, in a limited and numbered edition.
18 Movie Discs
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Theatrical Version and Extended Cut
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Theatrical Version and Extended Cut
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 2D and 3D Versions
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 2D and 3D Versions
13 Special Feature Discs
Includes multiple specially-produced, collectable memorabilia items, including concept art, a Map of Hogwarts and much more! Check back for further details coming in 2012
According to Collider, Amazon currently has the boxset marked down from R500 to $350, which equates to about $11 per disc, a very reasonable price. So if you don’t already own all the films, this would be the perfect choice. Especially since WB pulled all other editions of the films from the shelves last year, specifically so that they could create a market for a set like this. (Just another step in the “Make JK Rowling and Wanrer Bros So Rich, It’s Stupid” master plan)
Thus far no release date has been set, but it should be announced in the next few days, so watch this space. Until then you can bide your time by watching this animation video, showing you the various compartment of this magical box.
Ok, so it was only 23 seconds, resulting in more time, less biding. Here, why don’t you go read up on Rowling’s next Potter-less endeavour.

I don’t think that is the right video, but it’s another Prometheus video so no harm done. You can never have enough of those.
But on-topic: That HP box thing looks marvelous. I want one.

Weird. I copied that straight from the source article. Updated the video with a different source, so it should the right one now.
Also, I was just told by my wife that she would buy this for me, but just so the she can use it for a jewelry box.

I don’t need 13 extra discs about this series. The films are cool and well-worth owning, but I’ll just wait a few years for WB to start rotating them regularly again and then pick up the collection piecemeal.
