This TV show sounds like a Real Steel…

If there’s one thing that we can’t get enough of, it’s robots pounding the rivets out of one another. Films such as Real Steel and Transformers exist to fill in this void, and now, that idea is headed to TV as well, with the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n Rolla himself, hosting it.Remember Robot Wars? Well imagine that, but with bigger mostrosities that are just one malfunction away from starting a robot uprising. Former WWE performer Chris Jericho will be hosting the show, that sees 12 teams compete in the Robot Combat League, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The catch is, is that each of the 12 robots on show, have already been designed, with each team adopting and working on one. They’ve all got their own strengths and weaknesses, and will be controlled by robo jockey’s.

Each robot is attached to a beam, to prevent them falling down and oh my sack this just sounds beyond stupid. It’s essentially a giant size version of Rock ’em Sock ’em robots, minus lawsuits, and since it’s American TV, expect too much drama for your llama.

Moving on, each fight consists of three rounds, and if a bot is too messed up to compete, each team has only 20 minutes to fix ’em up or lose the match.

And here’s the kicker: This isn’t the only show of its kind in development. Mark Burnett and James Cameron already have a similar show coming up, called Robogeddon, but RCL has an advantage here, as it has already filmed a season of 13 episodes.

It debuts next year. Presumably while Sir Killalot wishes that the glory days would return to robot combat…
