The oldest enemy will return for the DOCTOR WHO 50th anniversary special

Now that a tag-team combination of Noelle and Kervyn have managed to give my enthusiasm for The Lone Ranger a clothesline from hell followed by a Stone Cold stunner, there’s not much else that I can look forward to in life. Except for one show, which has kept me glued to my screen ever since its current season wrapped up on a cliffhanger twist so big, that it should have had Sly Stallone hanging off of it.

The 50th anniversary episode for Doctor Who will see him team up with his earlier incarnation, revealing a few more details about the last great Time War that saw all of creation at stake. And it wouldn’t be an anniversary episode without some familiar pepper pots of death returning to harass the Time Lord.

The BBC (Spoilers through that link) announced that the Daleks would be back for the special episode, releasing three new images in the process. Go on, look at them while I elaborate on the special further. ELABORATE!

Dalek1

Dalek2

Dalek3

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, said:

The Doctor once said that you can judge a man by the quality of his enemies, so it’s fitting that for this very special episode, he should be facing the greatest enemies of all.

The Daleks will also be joining the Zygons, another obscure revival from the classic series, while actors John Hurt, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and Joanna Page will be joining Matt Smith and David Tennant for the special. A trailer was shown at Comic Con for the special, which indicates that the events leading to the rebirth of the new series will be examnied more thoroughly, as well as the part that The Doctor played in them.

The Daleks themselves have been used sparingly since Smith became the Doctor. They’ve only had two episodes so far where they’ve served as the primary antagonists, Victory of the Daleks and Asylum of the Daleks. A few appearances here and there has seen them pop up, but that’s about it really for the alien death machines who used to be foiled by stairs.

That episode airs on November 23, before the Christmas special arrives to herald in the debut of a new Doctor who will take over from Matt Smith. Dammit, the Doctor broke my heart a few years ago on New Years day. And now he’s about to ruin my festive season again.

EXCRUCIATING!
