A second TINTIN is still in the works!

I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I was very fond of Steven Spielberg’s 2011 Adventures of Tintin film and while there was news Peter Jackson taking over the director’s chair, news has been few and far between as Jackson has been very busy churning out enough material to turn The Hobbit into a trilogy. Thankfully, it seems like the second Tintin film is still in the pipeline!

industry5-15As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed the first Tintin film immensely. I see it as an (only slightly) exaggerated sequel to the first three Indiana Jones films and I cannot fathom why the adventure genre gets so little attention these days. While an initial goal of 2015 was set for the next Tintin film, thought to be based on Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun, we can only speculate as Peter Jackson has also mentioned his interest in adapting Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon, as per Comingsoon.

Here’s what Mr. Jackson has to say:

As soon as I’m free of The Hobbit, I’ll be going back into doing ‘Tintin.’. It was help up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it’s just waiting on me to be done with these ‘Hobbit’ movies.

That’s pretty clear cut right there. After The Hobbit, we will see more Tintin. I highly doubt that 2015 is a realistic date for it though, given Peter Jackson’s schedule, so let’s just make it 2016 and hope for the best!  I hear any more news about books being turned into trilogies though, I might just shave off my Tintin hairstyle and exchange my white poodle for a cat. How about you? Are you excited about more of Tintin’s adventures on the big screen?

  1. Awesome but another 2 year wait, there was less time between Spiderman reboots.

And with Jackson, he will turn it into a super drawn out, very badly paced trilogy…
